On her family road trips growing up, Maggie didn’t see many women driving semi’s. She knew then that she wanted to challenge that.

Maggie’s career with Frito Lay Canada began in 2014 as a machine operator on our Spitz business. After a few years and a variety of roles in operations, Maggie recalled the long road trips back and forth to Mexico and the challenge her younger self had issued. She’s been driving since 2017.

“We would always drive back and forth to Mexico when I was younger, and I found being on the road beautiful. At the same time, I noticed there weren’t a lot of women truck drivers. I wanted to experience that, and here I am,” says Maggie.

As an on-the-road driver, Maggie plays a critical role in making sure that our consumers across Alberta can find their favourite products in-store.

“We're incredibly proud of Maggie's journey and the way that she continues to seek out new challenges. From her start at the Spitz facility to earning her Class 1 Driver’s License and Long Combination Vehicle Certificate, her commitment to growth is inspirational”, shares Evan Dunk, Transportation Manager.

While there might be more women drivers now than, there is always room for more. So, for the little girls, who aren’t seeing enough women drivers on the road, Maggie has a message for them:

“Go for it. It’s worth it!”
