Food security
As many as 1 in 5 children in the UK are at risk of starting their day on an empty stomach and going to school hungry. We’re combating hunger in the UK by delivering meals, helping food banks strengthen their operations, providing logistical support to support long-term food security.
Our key partners:
Magic Breakfast: We’re continuing our long-running partnership with the charity Magic Breakfast, donating 250,000 bowls of nutritious bowls of Quaker porridge to school children in 2024.
FareShare: We’ve donated over 2.5 million meals worth of produce to FareShare, a charity which redistributes surplus food to help fight hunger and tackle food waste. Since 2018, we’ve sent donations of Quaker Oats and Walkers crisps to more than 9,000 charities, schools and food banks in almost every area of the UK via FareShare. Our employees regularly volunteer at FareShare depots sorting, packing and loading crates of donated food.
The Cottage Family Centre: Since 2022, we’ve been working with the charity’s Big Hoose Project in Fife, donating surplus product to provide meals for those in need. More recently, we’ve extended our support to also cover The Brick in Wigan. The Walkers crisps and Quaker Oats products we donate are distributed via the charity’s network to families experiencing hardship in both Fife and Greater Manchester as well as local schools, social work teams and foodbanks.

In turn, our associates give back by giving their time, talent and financial support to organisations making a positive local impact. We’re uniting our volunteer efforts to cultivate prosperity in our communities and advance our pep+ journey.

Whether it’s through financial assistance or volunteer events — when others are in need, our associates grab every opportunity they can to make a difference. Volunteering is a great way for our associates to feel more engaged, proud and connected to their local team and community.

Keep Britain Tidy: Since 2018, Walkers and Pepsi MAX have partnered with Keep Britain Tidy to support the Great British Spring Clean. Together with the UK’s biggest volunteer event, we want to urge people to think a little harder about their littering habits, whilst also encouraging them to recycle where possible. Through our support of the Great British Spring Clean, our teams of litter pickers across the UK have contributed to millions of bags of litter collected.
GroceryAid: We are proud supporters of GroceryAid, the industry charity which provides emotional, practical and financial help to those in the grocery sector. In the recent GroceryAid awards we were given Gold star status, recognising our continued commitment to the charity. Throughout the year we demonstrate this by raising awareness, fundraising and volunteering, so our colleagues know they can turn to GroceryAid for support 24/7.
Connect Reading: Our Reading office-based associates have supported Connect Reading, a non-profit which is dedicated to connecting local businesses and charities to share resources and information to benefit those in need. For over 6 years, associates from our Reading office have supported the organisation’s Christmas gift appeal, donating hundreds of items to local disadvantaged children. In more recent years, together with Connect Reading, we’ve hosted a volunteering fair where associates meet local good causes and pledge to donate their time to support them.

As we work towards building a world where packaging needs never become waste, we are leveraging partnerships to support the development of a more circular plastics supply chain, working with other organisations to identify solutions across the value chain and advocate for smart policies.

Building a sustainable circular economy for packaging is a global challenge and one that we can’t solve alone. In order to address the limitations with the global infrastructure and policies, we’re leverage partnerships to identify solutions across the value chain and advocate for smart policies.
Our key partners:
Plastics Pact: PepsiCo is a signatory of Wrap's UK Plastics Pact, a collaborative initiative working towards building a circular economy for plastics. It brings together businesses from across the entire plastics value chain with UK governments and NGOs to tackle the challenge posed by plastic waste.
Flexible Plastics Fund: This collaborative working group of companies and associations is involved in flexible packaging with the mission to integrate flexible packaging into the circular economy through system redesign.
Alliance to End Plastic Waste: PepsiCo is an investor in the Alliance to End Plastic Waste, a non-profit organisation partnering with the finance community, government and civil society that has raised $1.5 billion to bring new ideas to end plastic waste.
The New Plastics Economy: Through this partnership we’re working to move towards a 70% recycling rate for all plastic packaging. Led by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation it brings together industry, government, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), scientists and students with the goal of building a more sustainable approach to plastics.
Carbios: PepsiCo is a partner of Carbios, a company pioneering ways to both improve the number of times plastic can be recycled and its quality.
